How we work

How a year with IGNITE Academy works.

A monthly day with your group, one-to-one support in between, six areas of the business and your life to work on, and a clear plan you review every 90 days. Simple to follow, and hard to drift from.

The rhythm

Your year at a glance.

Every month

A full Growth Board day with your group, 10am to 5pm, in person, hosted by members in turn. Each month has an Expert Spotlight from a specialist in one of the six areas.

Between sessions

One-to-one time with your coach: quarterly on Growth Board, monthly on Growth Board with Mentoring, and with Sanjeev personally in the Founder's Circle. In person or online.

Every 90 days

The afternoon of one Growth Board each quarter is given to reviewing your last 90 days and setting your next three to five priorities.

Once a year

The Annual Planning Day: a full day to step back, review the year in your business and your life, and set the direction and first priorities for the year ahead.

Every December

The members' awards and Christmas dinner, with partners, where every group comes together to celebrate the year. Tickets are sold separately.

A Growth Board day

The shape of the day.

10am to 5pm, in person. Some sessions use slides or a flipchart to work through numbers and plans; most of the time goes on discussion.

  1. Check-in

Each member shares their wins, their key numbers and anything that has gone off track since last month, including any of their Life Guardrails.

  2. Host spotlight

The member hosting this month shows the group their business and gets candid feedback. Hosting rotates, so the travel is shared fairly and the room often gets a live case to learn from.

  3. Expert Spotlight

A specialist on this month's topic, with questions applied to members' real situations rather than theory. Speakers are chosen for the strength of the relationship and what members say they need.

  4. Lunch

Unstructured time to talk. It's often where friendships, introductions and referrals start.

  5. Hot seats

The full day gives time for most members to bring their biggest challenge. The group asks questions first and advises second. The member decides what to do.

  6. Commitments

Each member says what they will do before the next meeting, checked against the life they want, not just the business.

  7. Close

One sentence each on what they're taking away.

Two tools

Growth that doesn't cost you everything else.

Your Enough Number

What "enough" looks like for you, in money and in time: the income, the wealth, the hours, the weeks off. Business goals are then set to fund that life. Some owners find they need far more growth; others find they're closer than they thought and need freedom more than revenue.

Your Life Guardrails

Three to five standards no business goal is allowed to break, such as home for dinner four nights a week, no work on Sundays, or two holidays a year without a laptop. They're reviewed at every Growth Board. A broken guardrail is treated as seriously as a missed sales target, and as a sign the plan needs to change.

What we work on

Six areas of your business and your life.

Each area tackles a trap that successful owners fall into. Across the year there are two Expert Spotlights per area, twelve in all, and your one-to-ones start wherever the pressure is greatest.

The problem: Busy but drifting

Clarity & Strategy

Knowing where the business is going, why, and what to say no to, so every big decision is made against a clear destination.

  • Vision, direction and what success means to you
  • Your Enough Number: the income, wealth and time you actually want
  • Three-year direction, one-year goals and 90-day priorities
  • Business model and competitive positioning
  • New products, services and markets
  • Acquisitions, partnerships and joint ventures
  • Expansion, including international
  • Adapting to change, including AI
  • Big decisions and trade-offs: what to stop doing

The problem: Feast and famine

Demand

A steady flow of the right clients at the right price, from more than one source and not only from your own selling.

  • Brand, positioning and your story
  • Marketing strategy, budget and plan
  • Digital, social media and content
  • Being found on Google and in AI assistants
  • PR, speaking and your personal brand
  • Referral and partnership systems
  • Sales process, pipeline and closing
  • Pricing and pricing power
  • Client experience, retention and lifetime value
  • Reducing reliance on one big client

The problem: Busy but broke

Money & Wealth

Healthy margins, cash in the bank, and personal wealth built outside the business so your family's future doesn't depend on one company.

  • Financial management and the numbers you should know
  • Cash flow, forecasting and late payment
  • Profit, margins and cost control
  • Funding, borrowing and investment
  • Tax planning and tax efficiency
  • Business structure, including holding companies
  • Pensions and personal wealth
  • Investing and optimising returns outside the business, including property
  • Estate planning: wills, trusts, lasting powers of attorney and inheritance tax
  • Protection and insurance
  • Business valuation, exit readiness and succession

The problem: Nothing works without you

Team & Systems

A team and systems that deliver without you, so you can step away for weeks and the business still runs.

  • Your leadership style and what it creates
  • Hiring the right people, and senior hires
  • Building a leadership team you can rely on
  • Delegation and accountability
  • Culture, values and engagement
  • Performance management and difficult conversations
  • Keeping good people: pay, incentives and progression
  • Processes, systems and standard operating procedures
  • Operations and productivity
  • Technology, automation and putting AI to work

The problem: Running on empty

The Leader

The mindset, energy and judgement to lead well for decades, not just survive this year.

  • Mindset, self-belief and limiting beliefs
  • Money mindset and your relationship with wealth
  • NLP and the psychology of high performance
  • Decision-making under pressure
  • Resilience, stress and burnout
  • Energy, sleep and fitness
  • Focus, priorities and time management
  • Communication, influence and presenting
  • Confidence and emotional intelligence

The problem: Success at any cost

Life

A business that serves the life you want, rather than one that consumes it.

  • What really matters to you: values and purpose
  • Your Life Guardrails, the non-negotiables no goal can break
  • Health, physical and mental
  • Relationships, your partner and family
  • Time off that is really off
  • Friendships and loneliness at the top
  • Giving back, meaning and legacy
  • Life after the business

Sessions on tax, investments, pensions and estate planning are educational. Where you need regulated advice, we introduce you to qualified, independent specialists.

Your coach

Someone to keep the room honest.

Every Growth Board is led by an IGNITE Academy coach. Their job is to keep discussion focused on the decision, make sure quieter members are heard, stop advice turning into lectures, and hold everyone, including the loudest voice in the room, to what they said they would do.

Between sessions your coach works with you one-to-one, so you arrive at each meeting with the right issue and leave with a plan you will act on.

Your part

What we ask of members.

  • Attend at least ten of the twelve sessions. The group depends on continuity.
  • Bring real issues, with real numbers. The more open you are, the better the help.
  • Host one meeting during the year, at your premises or any venue that suits the group, so the travel is shared fairly.
  • Act on your commitments between sessions, and report back honestly.
  • Keep the confidentiality agreement and the Chatham House Rule, without exception.

Next step

See for yourself whether the room is right for you.

Start with a confidential call. We'll talk about your business, what you want help with, and whether a Growth Board or one-to-one coaching fits. There's no obligation, and if it isn't right for you we'll say so.

Your application is read only by the IGNITE Academy team and is never shared with members.
